Last Day on Medicine Lake

 Yesterday was the last day of the annual collaborative Art Shanty project on the frozen-over Medicine Lake. Tundra meets tiny carnival, midwest style. We bought some beers and i took some pictures.

   Polaroid Company announced the shutting down of their factories last week, resulting in no more square-shaped instant satisfaction. It may be due to my 20-something cynicism, but its happening again...The slow usurping of what was once all my childhood delight. Is it just me, or does  it seem like everything that entertained us as ten year olds suddenly disappeared or got stupid? Barbie, for example. And the WWF.

  As you know, i've undertaken Turkish cooking as a new geek hobby. Since i don't have a boyfriend to be all cute with and cook breakfast for, this is a dish i made for myself this morning called Ispanakli Yumurta, and is basically eggs, onion, spinach, salt, black pepper, garlic, and crushed red pepper. I know, it's like i'm grown up or something.

   Zak Smith, also known as Zak Sabbath, indie porn star, makes art. I just got his book of 760 drawings called Gravity's Rainbow illustrated and its amazing. He's mainly based in NY, but his drawings were at the Walker this fall, and also at Kavi Gupta in Chicago. Check it.
